ALAN ALI
ALAN ALI
Born Alan Bogue and would sign his art as Alan Ali. Alan was born on the east coast and became schizophrenic at the age of 17. Due to a bad trip on Acid. Which opened Alan up to a whole other world that most of us will never get to personally experience, however, we are able to delve into his mind through his art. Alan would call these pieces the Skin of the Earth. These are the people and cities and characters that all lived in Alans head. One could say that these paintings are a reflection of the compartmentalized chaos of being in Alans brain. Alan painted on everything and it was something that he would do all day every day.
Schizophrenia, a place where thoughts emotions and hallucinations collide. Each piece feels like a map of Alans experience with every element linked in a web of significance. The Earth is a living entity, the skin of the Earth suggest a planetary perspective. The figures and structures, symbolize, humanities impact on the earth or the Earth itself as a sentient being with its own skin, a surface teaming with life, energy and chaos the globe like forms reinforce this idea, possibly reflecting a cosmic awareness, isolation and connection despite the density there is a sense of isolation in the figures many of them don’t seem to interact directly, even as they’re packed together this could reflect the paradox of schizophrenia, feeling overwhelmed by stimuli while also feeling profoundly alone. The bright colors and frenetic energy suggest a raw emotional outpouring. There’s joy in the vividness, but also tension in the crowded composition. It feels like a release, away for Alan to externalize his inner experience and makes sense of them through Art.
